I am going to [place] for [dates] with [who]. Do not give me an itinerary yet. First give me the skeleton: what must be booked now or it is gone, what can wait, what is weather or season dependent, and the two or three days that need a decision because everything else hangs off them. Then stop and ask me the questions you need answered.
The "stop and ask me" ending is why this one gets reused. Stops the agent guessing at preferences.
Review what the agent will be allowed to touch: browse the web, submit forms and bookings. Ask it to show its plan and pause before anything that spends money, sends a message or changes an account.

A realistic weekend itinerary with travel times, opening hours, and room to wander.
On travel days the dot checks the flight status, gate, security wait and weather at both ends, and sends one message before you leave for the airport.
